Children’s Writing

Write4Kids.com: The Children’s Writers Supersite

• They have wonderful tips for new writers
• They are also the home of a great children’s writers message board

The Institute of Children’s Literature

• They have a great correspondence writing course, but also a terrific site for all kinds of writing information. I love the transcript page under “Rx for Writers”.

The Word Pool’s Resources for Writing for Children

• All sorts of bits on this writing site

The Purple Crayon

• This site, by Harold Underdown contains both wonderful articles on writing and publishing children's books, but also is an excellent source for up-to-date information on the book publishing industry.

The Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators

• The premier organization for children's writers and illustrators. Includes an excellent guide to manuscript format, including word counts for each genre.

Publishers Weekly

• This magazine covers the entire publishing industry but the site also has some great things specific to children's writing.

Writer's Heaven

• Tons of writing links for several genres and tips for beginning writers.

Are We There Yet?

• An online critique group who offer suggestions for new writers and links to writing resources.

Max E-Book

• A directory with hundreds of Ebook sites

CBC – Children’s Book Council

• The member list includes many of the big publishers, along with submission information and links to member websites.

Authors On the Undernet

• A link list for Children’s Publishers

The Children’s Writers Marketplace

• This monthly column by Margaret Shauers used to live on Inkspot. I look forward to it every month.
